I plan a lot!

I make lots of plans to Blog, but never get it done.  Maybe that should be a new goal for the New Year.  Let's see how it goes.

I wanted to share what I have on my list of things to do this year.  I belong to three quilt guilds.  One is a private group.  We are going to make the Alaska quilt, by Laundry Basket Quilts, using Studio 180 Design's Wedge Star tool to make it.  I have been working on two that are shades of blue.  One is the regular size, 9" finished blocks, and the other is a mini, 3" finished blocks.  So, 3 Alaska Quilts are on the list for this yea.

I also belong to a guild in Rolla.  They are not doing a UFO Challenge this year.  They decided to do it every other year.  Last year I finished with the most inches.  I think they said I had 3500 inches.  They are doing a NESTY Challenge this year.  NESTY stands for Never Even STarted Yet.  I have a few of those.  I have one on my Projects Challenge list that is in the third guild (which I will get to in a minute).  Not sure if I will participate with the NESTY Challenge or not.  I guess my third Alaska quilt could qualify for that one.  They have a limit of 3 quilts for that challenge.

The third guild I belong to is in my home town of Salem.  We do a UFO Challenge every year.  We list 6 quilts we want to finish this year and number them 1-6.  Lists are due in December.  We draw a number in December and we have 2 months to complete the quilt on the list with that number.  I have done this challenge for many years and have finished many quilts.  Most years I have more than one list.  This year I have 3 lists.  My lists are not specific this year like they have been in the past.  We will see how this goes.  My first list is to do a Studio 180 Quilt each time.  I have several that need to be quilted.  List #2 is a personal quilt of mine.  Again, I have several that need to be quilted.  List #3 is a Quilters Journey quilt.  Also, several of those that need to be quilted.  If I finish the Challenge, I will have 6 Studio 180 quilts, 6 personal quilts, and 6 Quilters Journey quilts done.  Most of the Studio 80 quilts can be classified as a shop quilt, too.

The Salem guild is also doing a Projects Challenge.  With the Projects Challenge we were to list 6 projects (quilting) that are not ready to quilt yet and get them ready to quilt.  I have 2 lists with this Challenge.

List #1

  1. A Graceful Baltimore
  2. Liberty Court
  3. Suburbs
  4. Firm Foundation -Song Book Churches
  5. Down the Rabbit Hole
  6. Lepidoptera-Elizabeth Hartman (This one could be a NESTY)
List #2
  1. Black & White I Spy
  2. Double Wedding Ring - Blue & Yellow
  3. Loyal Union Sampler - Elm Creek Quilt
  4. Black, White, & Teal
  5. Imagine (Applique')
  6. Sizzle
For this Challenge, #2 is due Monday, January 8th, 2024.  The Double Wedding Ring is pretty much ready to be declared ready to quilt.  If I want it bigger, I have to cut more fabric and I don't think I want to do that.  Liberty Court needs borders and I have not even touched it.  Maybe I will work on it tomorrow.

Okay, those are some of my goals for the year, 2024.  I will try to post again in a month and see how things are going.  If I'm not back in a month, it may be 2 years, like last time.  I do have a draft about my son's wedding quilt.  The quilt is done.  The wedding is over.  I had if finished in time for the wedding and gave it to them.  I can post a photo with that post.  Maybe I will work on that soon.

Thanks for reading!
